Kathmandu: Dr Baikuntha Aryal has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of the Nepal government, as announced during a Cabinet meeting on Thursday.
This decision was confirmed by a minister present at the meeting. Previously, Aryal held the position of Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister.
The current Chief Secretary, Shanker Das Bairagi, has been appointed as an advisor to the National Security Council.
Although Bairagi was scheduled to retire from his post in three months, he resigned on Thursday to assume his new role. Following the Cabinet’s decision, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal administered the oath of office and secrecy to Bairagi.
