Kathmandu: Police have arrested suspended CPN-UML secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who has been on the run, from Pasikot in Budhanilkantha on Sunday evening.
The Kathmandu District Court on May 3 issued an arrest warrant against Rayamajhi, who is an elected lawmaker from Arghakanchi, in connection with the Bhutanese refugee scam. Though he stated he would cooperate with police for investigation, he absconded.
Police have already arrested his son Sandeep in connection with the case.
Police have already arrested 13 individuals including former home minister Bal Krishna Khand in connection with the case. They have been accused of swindling millions of rupees from hundreds of Nepalis promising to send them to the United States as Bhutanese refugees.
