Kathmandu: An arrest warrant has been issued against Angtawa Sherpa, a former member of the House of Representatives of Nepali Congress, in connection with the Bhutanese fake refugee scam.
The Kathmandu Police, on Sunday, obtained the arrest warrant against Sherpa, police confirms.
Sherpa is accused of collecting a huge sum of money from various individuals in Ramechhap to send them to the United States as Bhutanese refugees.
When this incident became public, he met with Sanu Bhandari, who is also under investigation by the police, at the police station.
Police have already arrested 15 individuals, including high-ranking politicians and bureaucrats, in connection with the case.
