Kathmandu: Senior Vice President of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Rabindra Mishra has said that what looks like a speedy investigation on the fake Bhutanese refugee scam is the result of the foreign pressure.
“People seem to be excited about the recent development in the investigation of the fake Bhutanese refugee scam. But do you think that this speedy investigation process is the result of sudden awakening in the leadership against corruption? You are in illusion if you think so,” Mishra wrote on social media.
“Do not forget the statements by Nepali Congress leader Arzu Rana and Maoist Center leader Madhav Sapkota that the fake refugee scam is also being investigated by the FBI of the US government.”
According to him, the issue related to the Bhutanese refugees is related with the US as well and arrest of Bal Krishna Khand, a big leader of Congress and arrest warrant against the Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, a big leader of CPN-UML would be out of imagination, if there were no concerns and the intimidating pressure from the US side.
“If the US pressure was not behind this investigation, think of why big corruption cases have not been investigated and the big leaders involved in them have not been arrested,” Mishra wrote.
Mishra has listed big corruption cases in his statement: Corruption in the Maoist cantonment, Baluwatar land grab scam, Nepal Children’s Organization’s land scam, Chandbag school scam, Wide-body aircraft scam, Yeti and Omni scams, 33-kg gold smuggling case, Krishna Bahadur Mahara’s tape scandal, Sudan scam, NCELL tax evasion case, Chinese aircraft purchase case, the case of Janardan Sharma allowing unauthorized persons to alter tax provisions, Budhi Gandaki scam and so on.
“Why are none of the big leaders involved in these big corruption cases arrested?” Mishra has questioned.
If Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha is speeding up the investigation in this case out of his own conscience, he will probably get many others arrested. “Otherwise, there is nothing to be so excited about the recent development.”
