Kathmandu: The Pokhara High Court on Sunday acquitted actor Purna Bikram Shah, popularly known as Paul Shah, who was in Tanahun jail on the charge of molesting a minor.
A joint bench of judges Dilliraj Acharya and Shreedhara Kumari Pudasaini cleared Shah of the charge, citing lack of evidence.
Earlier, Tanahun and Nawalpur district courts had cleared rape charges against Shah. But the Nawalpur District Court sentenced the actor to two years and six months in jail and slapped a fine of Rs25,000 on the charge of molesting a minor.
A 17-year-old singer had filed a complaint in February, 2022, accusing Shah of raping her in Tanahun and Nawalparasi (East) districts.
With the decision, Shah will be released from Tanahun jail on Monday.
