Kathmandu: Saroj Kumar Yadav has been appointed chief minister of Madhesh Province.
Province governor Hari Sankhar Mishra on Wednesday appointed Yadav, parliamentary party leader of Janata Samajwadi Party, as the chief minister as per the constitution of Nepal.
Earlier, Yadav laid claim to the post with the support of 63 provincial lawmakers. Yadav was elected as provincial lawmaker from Bara 1 (B).
Yadav has support of 16 JSPN lawmakers, 23 of CPN (UML), 13 of Janamat Party, 9 of Maoist Center, and one each of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nepal Sanghiya Samjawadi, and an independent lawmaker.
