Kathmandu: The US Ambassador to Nepal Dean R Thompson has extended a note of congratulation to prime minister elect Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda. Prachanda was appointed PM on Sunday with the support from seven political parties–chiefly CPN-UML.
The US envoy has expressed his wish to work to support democracy, human rights and economic growth. “Looking forward to further strengthening our 75-yr partnership & working together to support democracy, human rights, and economic growth,” Thomson has mentioned in the message posted on Twitter.
Heads of governments and representatives of diplomatic missions have been extending congratulations to Prachanda after he became PM on Sunday.

China was probably the first country to extend best wishes, followed by India. Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, has also extended a message of congratulations to Prachanda. “Heartiest felicitations to Rt Hon’ble Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on becoming Prime Minister of Nepal,” Sharif wrote on Twitter. “As regional partners, Pakistan & Nepal enjoy cordial relations. I look forward to working with him to further strengthen our bilateral ties & regional cooperation.”
