Kathmandu: Hari Sharan Acharya, Minister for Energy and Irrigation of Gandaki Province, has been sacked on Tuesday, confirmed Bharat Koirala, press advisor to Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Nepali.
Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Nepali sacked Acharya, accusing the latter of supporting the CPN (UML) for the upcoming elections slated for November 20.
The sacking of Acharya comes just a few hours after Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba directed Chief Minister Nepali to sack Minister Acharya for supporting the UML candidate.
Acharya is a provincial assembly member of the Nepal Samajwadi Party. He was elected from Gorkha 1(A) constituency.
Earlier, he filed a rebel candidacy against the coalition parties of Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Rastriya Janamorcha Party. Acharya, however, had withdrawn his candidacy.
