Kathmandu: Ncell has received the ‘Nepal’s Fastest Mobile Network Award’ for January-June 2022 from Ookla, the global leader in mobile and broadband network intelligence.
Ncell has been honored with this recognition based on the Speed Score™ the company achieved in its mobile download and upload speeds.
To win this award, Ncell achieved a Speed Score of 17.16, with median download speeds of 17.31 Mbps and median upload speeds of 9.26 Mbps, securing the best speeds in this market. The scores were determined after taking download and upload speeds into account to rank network speed performance.
Ookla compared 16,929 user-initiated tests conducted on the Speedtest iOS and Android apps from all major mobile carriers in Nepal during the Q1-Q2 2022 period. According to Ookla, the test results included “all” cellular tests taken on devices that are identified as being capable of achieving the fastest mobile speeds commonly available in the country.
Sharing this recognition, Andy Chong, CEO of Ncell said, “We are delighted that our continuous efforts to connect Nepal with high-speed mobile broadband to link Nepali with the opportunities it brings have been recognized as the ‘Fastest Mobile Network in Nepal’ by the global leader in speed testing. The award is a testimony that we deliver what we commit to our customers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all stakeholders for their trust and for helping us deliver the fastest mobile data service.”
Every year, Ncell has been investing steadily in its infrastructure in a bid to deliver the best quality service to its customers. Since June 2017, Ncell has expanded its 4G service to over 70 districts, ensuring access to high-speed mobile broadband to 85 percent population of the country, Ncell said in a press release.
“Speedtest Awards, presented by Ookla, are an elite designation reserved for the fastest and top-performing fixed broadband and mobile operators around the world. It is our pleasure to present Ncell with the award for Fastest Mobile Network in Nepal. This recognition is a testament to their exceptional performance in Q1-Q2 2022 based on Ookla’s rigorous analysis of consumer-initiated tests taken with Speedtest,” said Doug Suttles, CEO at Ookla.
Earlier in March 2022, Ncell was also recognized as ‘Telecom Company of the Year’, and its Integrated Data Centre initiative was awarded ‘Infrastructure Initiative of the Year’ awards at the 2022 Asian Telecom Awards. Similarly, in April this year, for its good HR practices, the company bagged the ‘Excellence in Employer Brand Award 2022’ at the 14th edition of HR Meet in Nepal.
