Kathmandu: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on Monday held a discussion with newly-appointed ambassadors of different countries regarding the participation of Nepal in foreign events and enhancing Nepal’s presence internationally.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha said that the role of Nepali embassies and ambassadors abroad is essential for tourism promotion in Nepal.
Shrestha added that since embassies are the official bodies representing the country abroad, it is necessary to promote and maintain a positive image of Nepal, and everyone should do their best from their side to ensure it.
Secretary at the Tourism Ministry Maheshwar Neupane said that ambassadors play an important role in building a good representation of the country at the international level, adding that the ministry and the board are always ready for coordination and cooperation with embassies.
Speaking on the occasion, newly-appointed Nepali Ambassador to Japan Durga Bahadur Subedi, Nepali Ambassador to Spain Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal, Nepali Ambassador to Egypt Sushil Lamsal, Nepali Ambassador to Myanmar Harish Chandra Ghimire to Myanmar, Nepali Ambassador to Austria Bharatraj Regmi, Nepali Ambassador to Israel Kanta Rijal and Nepali Ambassador to South Africa Dan Bahadur Tamang stressed on the need to ready promotional materials for different countries, arrange budgets for events abroad, and coordinate with other ambassadors to ensure proper representation of Nepal.
Stressing the need for air connectivity for the development of tourism in Nepal, they suggested coordination among embassies, ministries, boards, and other agencies to make the programs abroad effective.
Similarly, NTB Chief Executive Officer Dr Dhananjay Regmi highlighted the programs being carried out by the Nepal Tourism Board after Covid-19 and the future plans, adding that the board expects cooperation with the embassies in the promotion of Nepal.
President of the Airlines Operators Association of Nepal Captain Rameshwar Thapa, Senior Vice President of the Hotel Association of Nepal Vinayak Shah, President of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATA) Ramesh Thapa and President of the Travel Agencies Association of Nepal Khum Bahadur Subedi expressed their views on tourism promotion.
