United States: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) National Coordination Council (NCC), United States of America is organizing its 11th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Raleigh Marriott City Center, North Carolina in the United States on July 3-4.
The two-day long event will begin with a recorded virtual address from the Prime Minister of Nepal, Sher Bahadur Deuba. The inauguration session of the event will also be addressed by Dr Narayan Khadka, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, general secretary of Nepali Congress, the ruling party of Nepal, the organizers told Nepal Live Today.
“The major highlight of the event is the National Knowledge Convention, where the NRNA NCC is bringing experts and professionals from both Nepal and the United States to share their expertise,” according to a press statement issued by NRNA NCC.
“The Science, Technology, and Innovation Committee (STIC) under the NRNA NCC of the United States is organizing the third edition of the National Knowledge Convention 2022 on July 4. 4th July is observed as Independence Day and is a public holiday in the US,” it said.
The third edition of the Knowledge Convention will be organized on the sidelines of the 11th AGM. As one of the major objectives of the NRNA NCC is to organize national and international conventions and conferences, the Council, in this edition, is bringing professionals and experts from different sectors from the United States and Nepal, the NRNA NCC said.
“The expertise of professionals and experts both in the United States and Nepal will be fruitful for Nepali community in the US and Nepal. I believe the convention, like the previous two editions, will bring productive discussions in the range of topics,” said Dilu Parajuli, co-convener of the convention.
According to NRNA NCC, experts and professionals will present papers and discuss 11 various topics in the convention. The convention will begin with keynote speeches from Prof Dr James L. Peacock, professor at University of North Carolina, Prof Dr Dharma Kanta Bastola, vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University, and Dr Sunil Babu Shreshta, vice-chancellor at Nepal Academy of Science and Technology.
The 11 topics to be discussed in the convention are ‘Your Health Our Priority’, ‘Sustainable Agriculture Natural Resource Management’, ‘Engineering and Infrastructures’, ‘Nepal America Relation: Reflection of 75 Years of Friendship’, ‘Social Sciences and Philanthropy’, ‘Business and Entrepreneurship’, ‘Basic Sciences’, ‘Women’s Issues’, ‘Mass Media and Social Media’, ‘Nepali Culture and Heritage’ and ‘Youth in STEM’.
President of the NRNA NCC America, Buddhi Subedi, said that the convention is being organized with a theme ‘Bringing Success Through Sharing Expertise’. ‘The preparation of the AGM and Knowledge Convention is complete and I would like to request all registered members of the NRNA USA to take part in the Convention physically or virtually,’ he added.
According to the organizer, all the sessions will be telecasted live through the official Facebook page of NRNA NCC, and interested participants can also join the discussion through Zoom.
