Kathmandu: Premier International School located in Khumaltar Height, Lalitpur is now the first and only complete IB Continuum School of International Education in Nepal.
The Ministry of Education Nepal authorized Premier for the IBDP Program in May 2021. After a rigorous training and planning process, the school received full authorization from the International Baccalaureate (IB) for the IBDP Program in May 2022, making it a complete IB Continuum School, the school said in a statement.
The IB offers a continuum of four programs of international education for students from kindergarten to Grade 12 in over 159 countries worldwide, the Primary Years Program (PYP), the Middle Years Program (MYP), Diploma Program (DP) and the Career-Related Program (CP), according to the school.
Schools that offer at least three of the four core Programs are referred to as continuum schools as they offer a continuum of the high standard of international education throughout the school years.
Currently, there are 7,500 schools offering IB programs globally of which only 5,000 schools are successful to obtain as IB continuum school status among which Premier International School is one.
Premier International School has a glorious history of being the first IB World School in Nepal to offer the IB PYP Programme for students from KG to Grade 5.
Premier is also the first and the only school in Nepal to offer the IB MYP programs for students from Grade 6-10 after its authorization by the Switzerland-based International Baccalaureate (IB) in 2014 and 2017 respectively. Now, the school offers all three core IB programs, Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP), gaining the status of a complete IB Continuum School.
Likewise, the new IBDP Program, now available at the Premier, is one of the most rigorous pre-university programs for 11th and 12th graders recognized in more than 150 countries. The three IB programs combined develop students with future-ready skills, who are ready to step up as leaders and contribute to their world as responsible global citizens.
The founder of Premier International School, Miss Pawitra Limbu, claims that this is a massive achievement for the school and the entire education system in Nepal.
She also shared, “Premier being authorized as the first IB Continuum school is an achievement larger than that of just an institution as it puts Nepali School in the international map for quality education and marks the beginning of a new era of international education in Nepal.”
