Kathmandu Cancer Center organizes walkathon on World No-Tobacco Day

Kathmandu: The Bhaktapur-based Kathmandu Cancer Center organized a walkathon in Bhaktapur Durbar Square area to mark the World No-Tobacco Day on Tuesday.

Hospital Manager Barsha Koirala said the event was organized to aware people of the negative impact of consuming tobacco products.

The walkathon attended by Bhaktapur Mayor Sunil Prajapati, Mrs World Nepal Dikshya KC, TV presenter Prakash Subedi saw participation of over 300 people from different walks of life.

The walkathon that started from Chyamasingh went through different alleys and concluded in a corner assembly at Panchtale Temple.


Kathmandu Cancer Center located three kilometers from Chyamasingh Chowk in Bhaktapur is a 50-bed cancer hospital. The center, which started its service with radiotherapy, has now completed six years of operation.


May 31 each year is celebrated as World No Tobacco Day and the theme of the day for this year is ‘Protect the Environment’ as it aims to highlight the tobacco threat to the environment, raising public awareness about the environmental impact of tobacco.
