Nepal government unveils policy document for next fiscal year

Kathmandu: The Nepal government has unveiled its policy document for the fiscal year 2022-23, setting the country’s economic prosperity as its top priority.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday presented the government’s annual policy and program in the Legislative Parliament.

It is mentioned in the government’s policies and program that the credit rating of Nepal will be completed in the coming fiscal year and insurance will be linked with production and productivity.

The government has aimed to achieve economic growth and stability through a combination of fiscal and monetary policy.

Accordingly, agriculture, transportation, information technology, industry, and other sectors will be promoted as economic potential and economic recovery programs will be introduced, according to the policies and programs.

Inflation will be kept within the required limits and projects other than of national importance, pride and transformation will be implemented at the provincial and local levels, according to policies and programs.

The government has given priority to the issues of conservation, utilization, and distribution of natural resources through the coordination of the three levels of government. The government aims to increase domestic production through industrialization through environment-friendly programs and a green economy through renewable energy.

Holy shrines carrying religious, cultural, and tourism significance like Pashupatinath, Janakpur, and Lumbini will be developed as a hub for religious tourism, according to President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

President Bhandari shared that the government had adopted the policy to promote cultural tourism in the upcoming years.

Towards this, the new policies and programs also include constructing a grand museum featuring history, art, culture, and other unique identities of the country, said President Bhandari.

The Great Himalayan Trail in Darchula and Taplegunj will be upgraded while an integrated program will be introduced to develop greater religious, cultural and tourism hubs that incorporate Barahakhsettra, Chataradham, Ramdhuni, and Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, said the Head of the State.
