Kathmandu: Police have nabbed a person with around one kilogram of gold from Khajura of Banke.
According to the District Police Office, Banke, Ashok Bahadur Singh, 28, of Pimi of Jayprithvi Municipality-1 in Bajhang district was arrested with gold from Subedi Chowk of Khajura Rural Municipality-2.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhu Sudan Neupane said that a joint police team deployed from Area Police Office, Dhanauli, and Police Post, Radhapur, held Singh while he was walking in a suspicious manner.
Police found different types of gold ornaments including necklace, ring, nose pin, bracelet, and earrings while checking the black bag Singh was carrying. The seized gold ornaments have a market value worth around Rs 6.2 million.
Singh further said that as per the preliminary investigation, the ornaments were stolen from a jewelry shop in Bangalore, India on April 17.
Necessary investigation was underway collaborating with Indian Police. Identity of owners of the ornaments has been kept secret thinking it may affect the investigation and other persons involved in the case have not been arrested.
