Kathmandu: A former journalist with the BBC World Service, Bhagirath Yogi, has joined Nepal Live Group.
Yogi, who is based in the United Kingdom, and worked with the BBC Nepali Service in Kathmandu and London, has been appointed as the Consulting Editor of the Nepal Live Group.
“Nepali media is passing through a challenging yet exciting phase. The emergence of online media and the increasing use of multimedia content offers both challenges and opportunities. I am excited to join a leading media group in Nepal and work with the committed group of journalists and management,” said Yogi after assuming his office.
A veteran journalist with three decades of experience in Nepal and the United Kingdom, Yogi has also worked with leading Nepali media including Nepalnews.com, Nepalitimes and Spotlight news magazine.
“We are excited to welcome senior journalist Yogi to the Nepal Live Group. We hope and trust he will inspire our team to practice media ethics and maintain professional standards in day-to-day reporting. We believe the Nepali media landscape will benefit from his wealth of experience and active participation in the newsroom,” said Anil Nyaupane, Chairperson of the Nepal Live Group.
Nyaupane also praised Yogi’s international experience and his reputation in the field, particularly his integrity, commitment to ethical journalism, political understanding and said that the organization has expected that he is best placed to steer the group to the next level.
The Nepal Live Group publishes www.nepallive.com, www.nepallivetoday.com and www.swasthyakhabar.com. The Group also publishes Swasthya Khabar Patrika.
Born in Chaugehra, Dang, Yogi holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University and also an MSc in Development Management from The Open University in the UK.
