Kathmandu: The government has decided to hike the fare for long routes and cargo vehicles effective from Sunday itself.
Issuing a notice, the Department of Transport Management said that the fare of long routes and cargo vehicles has been increased by upto 15 percent. This is the second time the government has hiked the fare in less than a year.
According to the Department, the fare rate has been changed as per the decision of the cabinet a week ago.
As per the decision, the fare of passenger vehicles has been increased by 10 percent. Likewise, the fare of cargo vehicles operated in the hilly and Tarai region has been increased by 13 percent and 15 percent, respectively.
According to the government body, the fare has been increased as the price of petroleum products has been on a continuous rise lately.
