Supreme Court hearing writ against appointment of office-bearers to constitutional bodies

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) is hearing a writ petition filed against the appointment of 52 office-bearers to different constitutional bodies through an ordinance.

A Constitutional Bench comprising of Acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki, Meera Khadka, Hari Krishna Karki, Bishowambhar Shrestha, and Ishwor Khatiwada is hearing the writ.

The erstwhile KP Sharma Oli-led government, through the Constitutional Council, had recommended various individuals for appointment to different vacant posts of the constitutional bodies by amending the Constitutional Council Act.
