Dharan: The team of pro Dhana Bahadur Thapa won the Surya Nepal Eastern Open Golf Tournament Pro-Am title at the par-70 Dharan Golf Club in Ghopa Camp, Sunsari.
Pro Dhana was teamed with amateurs Pemba Sherpa, Rupendra Gurung and Jitendra Rai, they accumulated 154 points to win the trophy. Pro Dhana scored 37 points, Pemba carded 41, Rupendra and Jitendra scored 37 points each.
The team of pro Niran Tamang (37), amateurs SP Bhim Dhahal, Tulasi Subba and Ram Tamang scored 36 each to finish runner-up with total score of 145 points.
While the team of pro Sukra Bahadur Rai (34), amateurs Bharat Tamang, Kaji Limbu and Binod Rai scored 36 each came third for a total of 142 points.
Ram Tamang bagged closest to the pin and Sangam KC got the longest drive.
In all, 72 players including 14 pros took part in the Pro-Am event played under stableford full handicap format. Top pro scorer was automatically teamed with the top three amateurs for the winning team. Similarly, fourth, fifth and sixth amateur scorer was teamed with the second-best professional scorer for the runner-up team and amateurs finishing seventh, eighth and ninth were teamed up with the third-best professional for the second runner-up team.
