Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday said that the dispute at the Supreme Court (SC) will get a way out in a day or two.
Receiving a memorandum submitted by the Nepal Bar Association (NBA), Prime Minister Deuba said that a solution to the current crisis at the judiciary will be sought after discussing with coalition partners.
“I have been following the developments and protest staged by the Bar Association,” said PM Deuba. “The issue should be resolved soon. A way out to the present crisis will be sought after discussing with coalition partners.”
According to NBA General Secretary Lilamani Poudel, NBA has submitted a 17-point memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding the resignation of the Chief Justice.
NBA, the umbrella organization of legal practitioners, has been staging protests for the past one month calling for Chief Justice Rana’s resignation after allegations that he sought a share in the expansion of the Council of Ministers and this has raised a question on the dignity of the judiciary.
NBA officials asked Prime Minister Deuba to take ahead an impeachment motion against the Chief Justice.
