Kathmandu: The first match of Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division between Friends Club and Saatdobato Youth Club (SYC) concluded with a goalless draw on Friday.
Saatdobato Youth Club’s debut in the ‘A’ Division League was relatively dominating in the first half and was able to create few notable chances.
In the 33rd minute of the match, SYC’s Akash Budha Magar missed a header which was free-kicked by Captain Man Bahadur Tamang. Again in the 56th minute, SYC’s Sushil Rai missed a goal from inside the penalty box.
Then, after a few minutes, Friends also created a remarkable chance. In the 58th minute, Jamoul Francois’s attempt from the penalty box failed as the ball deflected in the upper bar of the post.
Nathaniel Garcia of Friends, in the 66th minute, lost the chance to lead the game. His shoot was remarkably saved by SYC’s goalkeeper Abishekh Baral.
Friends was obliged to play with 10 players after Ronell Paul received a red card in the 76th minute for making a foul against Sushil Rai. It was his second yellow card in the match.
“I am very happy with the performance, we expected to win and gain three points, but couldn’t achieve it despite playing comparatively well,” said Meghraj K.C. Coach for SYC during the post- match press conference. “Although it was our first time in the league we dominated the experience opposition.”
Likewise, Mrigendra Mishra, Coach for Friends Club said, “In the first half, we were under pressure. But we made a comeback in the second half.” “Even after playing with 10 players, we performed well.”
