Kathmandu: A single bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana is hearing the writ petition filed by former prime minister KP Sharma Oli against the Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Sapkota and the Election Commission (EC) today. The writ petition was filed arguing that the registration of the CPN (Unified Socialist) is illegal.
Earlier, the hearing had been postponed after Justice Meera Khadka failed to hear the case on Friday citing lack of time.
On August 17, Oli had sent a letter to the Parliament Secretariat seeking action against 14 lawmakers, including Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal. But the Speaker did not register it in the Parliament Secretariat.
The writ petition states that registration of CPN (Unified Socialist) is against the law.
