Kathmandu: Nepal on Wednesday recorded 2,482 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,862 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 620 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 9,711 people were tested through the PCR method while 5,578 samples were tested adopting the antigen method. The positivity rate stood at 16.23 percent.
The number of active cases of coronavirus across the country is 38,287. Out of them, 35,250 are in home isolation and 3,037 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation. A total of 610 are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit while 161 Covid-19 patients are under ventilator support, the Health Ministry said, adding 396 are currently quarantined.
A total of 1,781 people got discharged during the last 24 hours, the Ministry added.
According to the Ministry, 44 people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. As of today, coronavirus-related deaths have reached 10,612.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 745 new cases with 515 cases in Kathmandu, 142 in Bhaktapur and 88 in Lalitpur.
