Kathmandu: Nepali Congress leader Bijay Kumar Gachhadar accused of corruption in Lalita Niwas land scam has appeared before the Special Court on Wednesday.
The court will record his statement and conduct a hearing on whether to release him on a general date, a bail bond, or remand him to custody until a verdict.
The court had on March 8 had ordered former Deputy Prime Minister Gachhadar to appear before the court with 15 days. However, he had been ignoring the court’s order.
The anti-graft body on February 5 had filed a case against 110 people in the controversial land scam while 65 persons and organizations were named defendants to regain the land. They have been accused of transferring the public land into individual ownership.
