Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued an order repealing a writ petition lodged demanding the reinstatement of Gandaki Province Assembly member of Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal Krishna Thapa.
A division bench of Justices Bishambhar Prasad Shrestha and Dr Kumar Regmi issued the order stating that the ‘relevance of the dispute’ has come to an end. The SC stated that there is no conflict in the fact that petitioner Krishna Thapa is no more a province assembly member as the context has already been changed after the interim order issued from the SC.
Given this context, the interim order issued from the SC on June 6 to continue Krishna Thapa as the province assembly member is quashed, it is said. Prior to this, Justice Dr Kumar Chudal had given an interim order not to implement the decision to relieve Thapa of his job. On the same basis, Thapa’s post as the province assembly member was reinstated.
