Kathmandu: Nepal has recorded 9,483 cases of Covid-19 from 20,596 RT-PCR tests and 720 antigen tests, the country’s Ministry of Health and Population said on Tuesday.
A total of 225 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. So far, the death toll from the infection has hit 4,084.
The huge spike in deaths and cases comes at the time when major parts of the country including federal capital Kathmandu are under prohibitory order to curb the spread of the virus. On Tuesday, the Chief District Officers of Kathmandu Valley extended the prohibitory order clamped in a bid to stem the spread of Covid-19 by 15 days.
In the past 24 hours, Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,927 fresh cases— Kathmandu district saw 2,788 cases, Lalitpur 602, and Bhaktapur 537.
Meanwhile, 312,019 people have recovered from the disease till date after 5,225 recovered in the past 24 hours and the country has 97,008 active cases. This means that the Covid-19 recovery rate has dropped to 75.5 percent, according to Health Ministry. Similarly, 448 are at the quarantine facility.
A total of 9,271 had people tested positive for the coronavirus, while 139 deaths were reported on Monday.
Active cases cross 97,000-mark
Active cases across the country have crossed the 97,000-mark after 9,483 fresh cases recorded and 5,225 people discharged in the past 24 hours.

Nepal registered 8,659 cases of Covid-19 in yet another highest single-day spike as second wave infections rage across the country. Out of new cases, a total of 3,825 were from the Kathmandu Valley alone. Of them, altogether 2,849 were in Kathmandu district, 458 in Bhaktapur, and 518 in Lalitpur. There were 66,352 active cases.

Nepal recorded 8,850 fresh coronavirus cases. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 8,777 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 73 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Active cases stood at 88,160.
