Gandaki Province CM Gurung resigns

Kathmandu: Gandaki Province Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung has resigned from the post before voting on a no-confidence motion filed against him takes place.

Gandaki Province Assembly was scheduled to vote on the motion tomorrow.

The three opposition parties—Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), and Rastriya Janamorcha—had filed the motion on April 15.

CM Gurung submitted his resignation to Province Chief Sita Poudel. The resignation has been approved, according to Chandi Prasad Aryal, Spokesperson of the Office of Province Chief.

Gandaki Province Assembly was scheduled to vote on the motion tomorrow.

Province Chief Poudel has called for the formation of a government within three days in accordance with Article 168 (2) of the Constitution and the current Cabinet to continue operations as per Article 169 (3) until a new government is formed.
