Kathmandu: Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh scored a half-century on their debut as Nepal thrashed the Netherlands by nine wickets in the first match of the Tri-Nation T20I Series in Kathmandu on Saturday.
Chasing down 137 runs target set by the Netherlands, Nepal scored 141 runs at the loss of one wicket in 15 overs.
Bhurtel top-scored for Nepal at 62 runs off 46 balls with five sixes and five fours. Sheikh contributed 54 runs as Captain Gyanendra Malla made 13 runs.
Julian de Mey grabbed the wicket of Bhurtel.
Earlier, invited to bat first after winning the toss, the Netherlands made 136 runs at the loss of four wickets in stipulated 20 overs.
Bas de Leede top-scored at 41 runs as Scott Edwards and Captain Pieter Seelaar contributed 30 and 23 runs respectively.
For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets as Sompal Kami and Shahab Alam grabbed a wicket apiece.
