53 succumb to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours; 2,918 fresh cases and 5,147 recoveries registered

Kathmandu: The country has witnessed a total of 2,918 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population stated on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Health, 2,049 were diagnosed with the virus in PCR tests while 869 were confirmed positive in the test undertaken through the antigen method. Samples of 9,438 people were tested through the PCR method while 5,381 samples were tested adopting the antigen method.

Likewise, altogether 5,147 Covid-19 patients got full recovery during the period. The Ministry said that the recovery rate in Nepal is 87.8 percent.

According to the Ministry, 53 people succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 8.465.

Nepal currently has 65,804 active cases. There are 8,182 active cases in Kathmandu, 2,434 in Bhaktapur, and 3,442 in Lalitpur.

Nepal reported 1,080 deaths in 14 days. A total of 69 people died on June 1, 101 on June 2, 75 on June 3, 101 on June 4, 68 on June 5, 99 on June 6, 92 on June 7, 108 on June 8, 81 on June 9, 59 on June 10, 67 on June 11, 61 on June 12, 46 on June 13 and 53 June 14.
